When you register for the event, and place all your details in the form, the very last part before you click submit, and even then you have to tick the box that says "Do you accept our terms and conditions" which is a link to them. By ticking that box and registering you accept the terms and conditions.

With the event closed you can't get to the registration form, but we have taken on board that they are hard to find (I found them using a quick Google Search), and we will put them in a better place on the website in the future. Most other conventions do not list the terms after you sign up.

The one part that always didn't sit well with me, was the fuss made due to the Thursday restrictions which were posted, and shouldn't have ever been assumed. Then once Charmew had offered you to come on Thursday you issue the cancellation, a few days before the event, there is very little we can do as a committee.

We are not out to get you, and as it stands you are not the only one that has been refused a refund this close / after the event. We are sorry that we can not accommodate you for this situation, but the terms stand.

I had a similar result with Ayacon... I'd just missed the closing date for refunds by a day when I finally decided to actually cancel my registration, and was promptly refused, and had similar terms and conditions pointed out to me.

But really, that's my own fault for not seeing it before as I didn't actually read the terms and conditions when I had the chance...

while we are on the subject.
I was told I would recieve a refund for my place at toko when i was unable to attend after Kikojui took my place.
originally he was going to pay me directly when I gave him my place however he was told on the door that he had to pay there and that I would be reimbursed separately.
I have contacted Myst and Kareem and Kikojui have contacted members of the committee but I have still not heard from any of them.

hopefully posting here will get me a response?
Takeo

At the end of the day terms and conditions are there for the con goers too, if you put the committee out of pocket or money has to be taken from the event, then toko wouldnt be as great as it is.

If they left paying to the last minuet so everyone who cant make it gets a refund then nothing would ever get arranged and the con would suffer.

I have been refused a refund from a con before, I was upset but understood.

These things are in place to protect the committee and us the con goers. If the money kept having to come out the committees pocket there would be no con...

Takeo's situation was slightly different because this came up before the three week cut off. I can attest to that. The whole scenario was a chain of events which started and culminated in his situation above. Just so you know Aura.
